About the Candidate
The ideal candidate has experience fundraising for film shorts and whose primary role is to fundraise for the “I Identify as Me” docuseries pilot sizzle, an independent project. This candidate will work closely with the Director/Producer as a thought partner to ensure the pilot sizzle budget is met.
The producer is expected to be ready to step into a leadership role on this project and eager about LGBTQIA+ films or TV centering Black and Brown Trans, gender diverse people and women. Furthermore, someone who is open and excited to learn about various intersectional identities. This candidate should have strong communication skills with stakeholders, crew, and talent.
This role is primarily remote. In-person expectations are to attend a minimum of four events—this may be subject to change.
Core Duties
Creative and strategic fundraising through grants, crowdfunding, event planning, bookings, and cold emails/calls
Supports the director by attending labs, workshops, conferences, and events that apply to fundraising efforts
Sets up and maintains fiscal sponsor relationship and transactions
Assists the director with marketing and press applicable to fundraising efforts
Collaborates with Line Producer and director to stay on budget
Comfortable with communicating their needs and boundaries related to their role to director and/or team members
Possesses a strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative and be proactive
Attends work-in-progress screenings and large premieres
Key Qualifications
Experience with successful fundraising and completing a short film with a budget of $30,000 or more
Ability to fundraise via grants, crowdfunding, bookings, and cold emails/calls
Comfortable negotiating with potential investors or donors to maximize fundraising efforts
Excited and able to pitch the project to individuals and groups
Open-minded, compassionate, and respectful to people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences
Ability to respond effectively to feedback
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, and responsibility
About I Identify as Me
"I Identify as Me" is an experimental, character-based, vérité-style episodic that unpacks the false notion that has been believed for centuries– that gender is fixed and binary. The series will show how the gender binary is a specific form of systematic power that impacts everyone regardless of race, gender, or age. This will be realized through the lived experiences and interviews of eight people who are Black & Brown Trans, gender-diverse people, and masculine-presenting women. Click here to learn more.
